At the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, there has been a musical tribute every year since 2006; a classical concert that befits the unique location. This in commemoration of the fallen soldiers who gave their lives in the Second World War for the liberation of the Netherlands, and to celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands in September 1944, which started in the south of Limburg. It’s always a big happening with a great audience.
2020 is different and we can’t be all together at the same place anymore to enjoy a great concert. The internet connects us even when we are miles apart.
The last couple of months a lot of work was done to organise the concert in these difficult and uncertain times. Strict precautionary measures weren taken to guarantee a save concert for the 1400 visitors. Besides the visitors present a livestream was available on the ABMC facebook channel which attracted thousands of viewers from all over the world. A world premier for the Liberation Concert.

The Liberation Concert, which took place Sunday, 20 September 2020, celebrated 76 years of Liberation. The 15th Liberation Concert was led by Arjan Tien and with special appearance by soloist Lei Wang.
We supported the American Battle Monuments Commission with a livestream of the unique Liberation Concert by the philharmonie zuidnederland at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten. A beautiful musical tribute and a lasting memory to he American soldiers who gave their lives during the liberation of Europe during World War II. So people could watch and enjoy it from all over the world.
